Who's seen Phil Tran?

Well, I am currently sitting at a Starbucks here in the heart of Rochester, MN; expecting to find one whom I have not seen in a long time, aforementioned in the title. Yep, the coffee is good. That I can say. I can also tell you that I am surrounded by blocks of hospitals and clinics and research buildings. Hell, Mayo isn't in Rochester... if freakin' is Rochester. In fact, I bet I could find one of these clinic buildings that probably house residents, attendings, janitors, police and everyone else who keeps things running. Also, this town is like one giant building. When looking at all the various connections between the towering structures in this concrete jungle, I am reminded of the grove of trees in California that is the world's largest living organism. They are all connected through roots underground and have formed a living forest. That is how this place feels with blocks and blocks of building connected my multitudes of skywalks. In fact, I am staring at a skywalk that is a 5-story complex right now. I do not have to leave the hotel to go to Starbucks or to head into the hospital. In fact, I bet there is probably an indoor connection to a local bar or pub... and if there isn't there should be. I mean, with so much effort taken, why suddenly draw the line there. What else are Minnesotan's going to do in the cold weather? Alas, this is something that I cannot complain about though as it was definately warm enough today for a run in a t-shirt and shorts around town and not even come close to getting cold. It was rather enjoyable and I was reminded of when my family and I came here for AAU nationals when I was 11 years old... I remember going to the Red Lobster with the Deckers... I wonder where that is? Anywho, most cities that I have been to actually have a 'classic' breakfast and beer place that is frequented by the ER physicians... which actually makes sense considering the ER guys will do night shifts and after work will go out for a drink... however since that sometimes happens to be at 7 or 8 in the a.m., not too many places accomadate such needs. Well, i'll have to see if Rochester is the same. Anywho, still sitting here at Starbucks without a P.T. [Phil Tran] in sight. I have called him upwards of a dozen times in the past 2 weeks, including a few today, but he is not here. Have you seen P.T.? Where's P.T.? I don't know, but if is is in Rochester, he's not returning my calls... I hope he's ok whereever he is and whatever he is doing.
Well, off to get some din-din with the residents. We'll probably go to some fancy place 20 miles away and never leave the confines of this freakin building.
Cheers and Peace,
Gar
