well, due to various recent requests and multiple complaints regarding a sickness that has been spreading from viewing the same old update from my blog, here comes a response that will hopefully appease all... or at least moderatly satisfy the mind of those whose eyes scan this page.
i figure that i good way to update peeps [people enjoying eye-popping sentences] is to elaborae on that which has been occuring most recently... which would probably have to be my trip to OKC as they call it in the homeland of the state that has it's own built in trailor hitch. i guess that being in such a location, one might want to haul the area to one of the coasts, be it east, west or south. in fact, florida used to have the same problem... 20,000 years ago the state of florida actually used to be located between wisconsin and michigan. however, back in the perverbial 'day' floridy just was not satisfied with what was happening to it. being in such a region surrounded by cold and peoples that would just pass on through to more temperate climates, it wanted something more, somthing revolving around consitency and settlement. thus, after many native american tribes passed on through it figured that there must be something to this 'moving to a warmer area' thing. so, it packed up it's things [as any good state or land mass does when going on a trip... it made a check list, to-do list, things needed list, what to look out for on the journey list, lands to avoid along the way list [which later, thousands of years later became an outdated list as it turned into the 'states to avoid along the way list', but not needed anymore since it already made the move and avoided said states... good thing the list was made] and of course the list of 'lists to make' list... definatly crucial for those OCD states. so, it was toed on south to its current location and backed into place to reside in a land surrounded by warmer water. however, in it's place it left soem land and water which included what is known today as lake michigan and superior [cold water from the cold soul of the land that left] as well as a little bit of land for good measure... now, it is satisfied with its location as people travel the various lands in search of going to present day florida to settle and spend time in... a novel place where the retirement bar is set high as people work all through their lives only to desire to end up on its now warm and once cold soil [not soul as it left that up north]. anywho... the point is that it's built-in hitch came into good use during this time... unfortunatly OK is a smidge bit behind the times and still desires to be landed where it is... in the middle of nowhere, wherever that is.
well, the trip to OKC began out of RDU... from fayetteville. it was a good trip in the a.m., and after flying down the highway [sorry rory... definatly took your car... but it's still in one piece at least] i was just happy to make the flight. btw, wtf... rdu? ok, i just made somewhat of a cohesive comprehensive sentence with just anacronyms... well, as i was saying rdu... whose brilliant engineering design was it to place a parking garage in the middle of the airport. that sounds a bit odd, but if you have ever been there you will have been within this constructed connundrum. after you park your car, you find your way to the elevator [or stairs if you are not a lazy-ass or aren't wearing high heals... and if you are traveling a bunch why the flip would you be wearing high heals... and i definatly was not... on this day] and get to the ground level where you are met by a sign which takes you by surpirse the first time you see it.. and each time thereafter it is not surprise, but astonishment, amazement or confusion. there is an arrow that points one direction for terminal A and another for terminal C. thus, depending on which airline you are flying on, you have to head completely opposite directions out of the parking garage. i just don't see why they couldn't have built the terminals... say... together... or perhaps closer... hell, freakin adjacent would do, connected by some form of covered building... but you know, that would be too easy. apparently now they are having you make decisions on which direction to head in an airport even before you check in... hell, soon enough they will be having you go through security to get in the terminal or even the parking garage... i can imagine you driving your car through that x-ray machine to see if you are carying anything funky... random car checks, that sort of thing. then, someone will probably find a way to do something with their tires, so after the fact it will happen that your tires have to be taken off separatly and scanned individually so as to make sure that they are not contaminated with some sort of rubber enhancing substance [sounds like that could also be an idea that would advance a porn star's career]. haha.
moving along... the trip went well, but of course once i got to atlanta, things got a little hairy... the plane that i was supposed to get on got delayed a little bit... and then a good bit... and then a freakin' lot!.. it was horrible... i started counting down and figured that i probably would not make the dinner extravaganza that evening. well, my flight got in at quarter after six and i proceeded down to the baggage claim. after retrieving my baggage i began my 'search' for the rental car place where i had my reservation... ironically enough it was ADVANTAGE... which turned out was not darn advantage to have as it was the only rental car place that was OFF SITE. thus, i had to head outside and catch a vehicle where i met Byron, the 74 y/o van driving, motorcycle-riding, divorced, cynical guy. well, luckily, although byron might not have been the most quick behind the wheel, the korean guy [matt] behind the counter could type like the wind and had my paper work filled out in a jiff. in the end, i got the car and got to the place that i needed to be two minutes before seven [the time of the dinner not-so extravaganza (calling it that as a result of how it turned out)]. the only other problem... definatly did not dress for anything fancy so i tried to utilize that time and limited rental car space to sport a dressing/changing room right then and there. well, i got changed but when reaching into my bag for a little extra deoderant, i hit my finger on what i thought at the time was my shampoo... after being alittle irked at that and then quickly hurring along [not thinking much of it] i proceeded inside where the evening just consisted of finger-food, some type of sherbert punch and conversing with the residents and attendings. the most interesting part of the evening came 2 hours in when i realized what i had actually hit my finger on when reaching in the abyss that was my bag [is it so hard to build a city light every so often... or offer rental cars with an overhead light... not saying too mcuh for OKC... or my choice in rental cars i guess]. well, when i was talking to the intern, she kept looking at my hand... definatly toward the finger that i had hurt earlier. i thought maybe she was just analyzing my hands at first, trying to figure out if i could use them as a good surgeon... however such was not the case. i looked down only to see that the middle of my nail was bleeding all over my finger. there was [and still is] a nice v-shaped slice out of the center of my ring finger nail. it goes down to the nailbed and you can take my nail and bend the cut part in half which elevates off of the nail bed. thus, i realized that i had hit my nail on my razor [yeah... the one for my face which i did not have time to use prior as well]. so, mystery solved. if that constitues a mystery... probably more of a mysery [silent 't'] if i may.
alas, being hungry and wanting more, including wanting to seek what OKC had to offer i proceeded to bricktown, which is their version of 5 points, the vista and harbisson combined and then some. it was pretty nice, but all that was appealing to get some food at the time was hooters. thus, i had a cob's friend sandwich [which became my intimate gustatory friend] and watched the OK vs. OKS bb-game. it was glorious...and then i left [yeah... real glorious]
checking into the hotel... girl gave attitude... nough said... what-a-bitch
interview day... probably should not talk too much about the peeps [pompous eccentricly egotistical plastic surgeons] so call me if you wish... but i absolutly loved the residents [one of which is getting over treatment for stage 3 ovarian cancer... such an amazing story!!!]!
the most annoying question that i have had thus far [actually it was the answer i was given as 'correct' and not the question that was the disturbing part]... the attening placed
at the end of the day, i got to drive around and check out some more of OKC before heading to the airport... plane rides are plane rides, and airports are airports, but the ride back from O'Hare to RDU was not too bad [other than getting in maddd late]... i did happen to break the plane. when stating that the overhead lights were about to be turned off, and that there was a reading light placed over our heads for our convenience, i reached up in a ninja-ish fashion turned on the light and adjusted it with the most non-ninja skills possible. so, after pulling of the light over my head and a few chuckles from the peeps behind me, i spent the better part of a minute trying to get that durn thing back on. after i finally did, the door to the plane broke and it wouldn't close and the people behind me tried to send me 'to the rescue' due to my recently proven ability to fix the aeronotic needs of the plane... fix a light, then a door... what next a jet engine... obvious logical sequence. anywho off it was to RDU, then a magnificantly luxurious ride home in a vehicle made for every driver's driving pleasure, with the rubber hugging the road at every turn, the radio fixated on NPR and the cat-like purrr of the engine flying down the road... ahh yes, thank you again Rory for the ride in that which is your automobile. glorious.
well, a good three hours of sleep later, thankfully woken up by april... i was off to columbia to head home, shower and get right to work...
it was an exciting week[end] and if curious, maybe i will tell ya' about kansas city later. but for now it is getting late and bed time is upon me... and the rest of the people on the east coast to [most of the people from] the west coast.
good night and tootles...
to be continued,
